this implies that consciousness came first, before matter

the world is seen more like a realistic simulation or dream than it is a physical world out of which consciousness is a byproduct

Analogies

A character in a video game would be more accurate to see that the game world is the subset of a bigger world - and does not contain everything that exists.

The character would have to understand that their ability to understand their whole universe is limited using just the tools available in the game world

Sounds being produced by a speaker or television can be inferred to be coming from a source outside of the speaker (a radio signal), rather than a physical person inside the speaker making noise

Nonphysical aspects of consciousness - such as thought and emotion - would be seen as potentially having tangible effects on physical reality

Striving hard to obtain something could actually hinder one obtaining it

Visualizing obtaining something can increase the likelihood of obtaining it

Emotional stress can cause physiologic changes in the body

Positive thoughts, emotions, beliefs can have positive effects on the body (the placebo effect)

Death would not be assumed to be the end of consciousness, as consciousness existed prior to physical matter
